This opened exciting in-roads to the world of still image capture with our affordable monitor kit, complete with multiple power options, table stand, sun shield and a variety of cables for operation. Response to the new monitor has been exceptional from professionals with years of image capture experience via tiny view finders and small camera monitors. This new component naturally expedites image capture, as well as real-time viewing of captured images.

It didn’t take long, once the popular monitors began to establish their place in the field for Texas-based Albertex Photography to develop the innovative Bird’s Eye View technique. Now professional photographers can easily offer beautiful portraits from a high vantage point above their subjects by simply mounting their camera on top of a monopod and tethering the 7” monitor for eye-level viewing to capture the images. No more ladders or climbing! “Keep your feet on the ground, with your eyes in the sky for a Bird’s Eye View of your subject,” smiled Bill Vahrenkamp. “This technique opens up a whole new world of image capture.”

Tanya Vahrenkamp is excited about the implication this new accessory has to her wedding portrait business. “We recently added imageTech’s photo booth option to our wedding and event business, and thought it was our revolution of the year. Now that we have the Marshall monitor, the opportunity for image capture is completely endless for any type of photography.”

Passionate photographers will go to any length to capture their vision. Cj Wilson remembers climbing the creaking stairs to an old church attic to capture a unique image of the bride and groom in front of a high stained glass window. The idea could have been devastating as the rickety old folding chair on which she was standing collapsed, injuring her ankle. “I photographed the entire wedding in pain because the show must go on!” Cj recalls. “If only I had the Marshall Monitor.”

imageTech owner, Doug Schirripa says we are just scratching the surface of what the external monitor will mean to sports and event photographers, as well as other categories such as journalism, nature, forensics, etc. For minimal investment, customers are emerging with unique image capture options. For some, it’s a major edge over the competition, both in speed and variety of image capture as well as added creativity in portrait photography. “Things are looking up for more profits,” says witty Schirripa.

Order your “Bird’s Eye View” kit today ~ 888.359.2521 or 714.349.9311 or talk with one of imageTech’s professional consultants to discuss specific applications.

Early dye-sub printers, especially 8×10, had heads that had to be locked in place for transit. Older Kodak printers had pins that needed to be installed and the Sony UP-D70 had a combination of left arrow, right arrow and Stop that had to be pushed while the unit was on to lock the head. All of these printers needed their paper and ribbon removed from the printers for transit too.

Recent dye-sub printers do not have heads that need to be locked for transport, but do need to have the paper and ribbon removed. You do not want the paper and ribbon bouncing around and potentially damaging the printer¹s electronic and mechanical systems. This type of damage can also void the warranty since all the manufacturers recommend removing the media. Please keep this in mind the next time you take your printer to an event!

The lightweight 7″ (800 x 480 LCD) monitor works with virtually any camera, still or video. It can be mounted directly to the camera’s hot shoe, or it can be attached to any type of bracket so the hot shoe can still be used for an external flash. The kit includes a table stand as well.

The standard cable works for many cameras, and if the video output is different, it’s simply a matter of connection with the appropriate cable. Many of the cables that originally came with the camera can be used. The monitor comes with an HDMI cable, PC (VGA) cable, HDMI to mini cable and multiple function cable. A DC Cable is attached to the back of the camera. If necessary, cables can be found at your local electronics store.

The standard monitor ships with the BP511 battery, standard for many Canon cameras. Therefore, the batteries can be used interchangeably between camera and monitor, which is a convenient feature. The battery charger is universal and works with either Canon or Nikon. For other Canon and Nikon users, the monitor can be ordered with either a Canon LP-E6 or Nikon EN-EL3e battery plate for only $30 more. Extra batteries can be purchased at your local camera store.

The kit includes a power supply, vehicle adapter, remote control, camera mount adapter that allows the camera to tilt, or swivel.

As an added bonus, users can request a form from imageTech to receive a FREE sunshade for the monitor. Naturally, this makes it much easier to use the monitor outdoors in daylight.

A complete list of accessories will be available soon. More sophisticated monitors are also available, starting about $900.

Call 888.359.2521 or email cj@imageTechMarketing.com for more details today!

Bear in mind large printer companies like Epson and HP usually have the drivers ready before the release of the new OS. But camera and dye-sub printer manufacturers usually do not have the drivers ready until after, and sometimes long after the OS release. To make matters worse, some older printers will not ever have new drivers written for them.

I am still running Windows XP Pro on my Dell but should be upgrading in a month or two to Windows 7.

Digital cameras, by their electronic nature, are highly susceptible to being damaged by voltage spikes. Camera manufacturers recommend no more than 6 volts to set off a flash either by hot shoe or PC connector. Some older flash units may be as high as 280 volts (as reported on the Vivitar 283). Some old units are in the 20 to 30 volt range and will not necessarily cause immediate problems but over time can damage the sync contact. Many older flashes, especially studio strobes, may be as high as 50 to 60 volts. Although we cannot vouch
for these products they seem to be designed to help reduce the possible damage to cameras by high voltage sync.
